On a Weatherby Mark V Deluxe stock what's the best way to remove fingerprints off the shiny finish? Is it safe to use something like Pledge furniture polish or would it be better to use a silicone cloth?

It's a gun, not a Baby Grand :p Pledge on a rag will be fine.

Personally, I'd use Circa 1850 stripper and finish up with 400 grit paper. :D

G96 the barrel and all steel surfaces and DONT use oil on it. The G96 will clean minute bits of rust off also as you rub it. Use a soft cloth for this...a lot of ppl have a high amount of acid in there body and eventually you will have rusty fingy prints on the steel surfaces.

For the stock if its a high gloss finish give it a coat of good ol Turtle wax.If any gets into the checkering let it dry and use a soft toothy brush on it to get it out.

Ice, why do you say not to use oil on the barrel and steel parts? I've always used Rem Oil on the barrel and metal parts and haven't noticed any problems, is there something I'm missing out on?

Oil is a lubricant, not a protectant. Think back to a 60's engine block that is seized up. That has run for over 20 years but is now seized.Oil will attract and hold moisture.Just like your body which is moisture. By getting a protectant on the metal and wood surfaces.you can enjoy your purchase for years to come.
