Considering a Norc Np-29....

Haven't seen a poll on these and figure it the quickest way to get the final word on them. I have researched them a lot on this board and it's really hard the gauge whether the general consensus is favourable or not.

If you don't mind, I'm not really looking for "it's not nearly as good as my $1500 gun" lol... I'm looking for input on value for the money in a 1911, and input on the fit and function, as well as the finish for this price range or close.

This is specifically for the 9mm version.

Thanks!

I've only detail stripped Rusty's, but it looks like a good investment. The trigger isn't horrible, and will easily do the novice. Sights are not bad. Build quality seems at least on par with early 80's Springfields. The factory beavertail is fine as is.

If I was a newbie looking for a good training gun, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. When extra cash was available, I'd get new trigger with pre and overtravel adjustment. Later on, maybe a new sear and hammer. Until your skills are better than the factory sights, they will do nicely.

And I'd unquestionably recommend sending it to Gunnar.

It was worth it to me to buy from Armco. Tuned, works great right out of the box and Gunnar gives you a 1-year warranty through Armco. Yeah, I know the other guy down East gives warranty too. But if you do have a problem, who do you think will get you taken care of faster? The dedicated pistolsmith that always returns e-mails, PM's and phone calls or the guys that you can never seem to get a hold of?... just my 2 cents.

Don't get ONE !

Get TWO of them !

I bead blasted mine the week I recieved it. Re-parkerized it in my kitchen and I am so proud of my welfare parkerizing job. Looks like a factory job to anybody else.

Just replaced the sights (www.armco.com) by sending the slide to Gunnar. Holy Granola does he ever do a great job. His services are worth every single penny and then some more.

The NP29 is the best kept secret among the Norinco 9mm's from the Kommies in mainland China. Hey, if people refuse to buy them, I'll grab another one or two just for shzts and giggles.

Cheers,
Barney

I bought one from Marstar. For me, the tinkering is just as much fun as the shooting. I shortened the hammer hooks and polished them, and installed a McCormick lightweight trigger because I like the longer trigger. The Norinco mags would sometimes not hold open after the last round, Metalform mags from P&D made it totally reliable. It is cheaper to feed than any of my other handguns, and is a great caliber for introducing noobs to the sport.

What does Gunnar sell the "prepped" NP29 for?

Jeff/1911.

I don't think he's brought any in off this last bunch to come in. But I'd be all over one like a fat kid on a smartie if he does... :D

a buddy of mine just bought one from marstar, its a new shippment, wow I`m getting one for sure, for this price there is no other option

Norinco NP-29

Finally got one, used but excellent condition... Came with some nice mods to it already. Trigger is nice & crisp... Will shoot it first before I go further with it...
