Amph what cartridge/s did you use for deer this year?

Myself I shot a nice 2 point mule deer @ 50 yards with my Marlin 1895GS 45-70 with XS Ghost Ring sights loaded with 350gr A-Frames @ 1950fps.

My second mule deer buck and largest 4 point I have ever shot was later this fall @ 210 yards with a wildcat called 308Bellm = 150gr 30 cal bullet @ 2620fps from a super small 5 lbs single shot T/C Contender carbine.

What about you...

I don't much care for deer. not even sure if I hunted any this year. they are kinda boring.

I spent my hunting season working. getting Paid to hunt :)

but if I was going to hunt deer, I would take my .308.

there is one behind every tree, waiting to eat you.

No dumbass, you got it all wrong. Coyotes are behind every tree. Behind every 7th tree there's a coyote and a grizzly. That's where the number 7 became lucky. The coyotes kill you slow btu behind "Lucky Number 7" there's a grizzly that kills you fast.

I would have thought you'd know that. I'm disappointed.

I'm sorry Farva.

again, I bow to your Wisdom.

308 because of reasons already stated x many times. But i've never actually hunted with my 308, I've used my 30-30 and 7.62x39mm to hunt and they work perfectly for the same situation.

300 Remington ultra with power level ammo you can select 30-06 power level 300win then 300Ultra with the power level ammo it becomes a very versatile cartridge

I have shot deer with every cartridge listed there, save the 243 [because I have always shot 6mm Remington] They will all work just fine. I like the 6.5x55 and the 7x57, but chose 260 & 7-08 simply because they are ballistically similar. As range stretches out well beyond 200 yards, the 270 starts to show it's stuff, and that would have been my first choice if the outer limit was around 500 yards. Regards, Eagleye

I like to switch it up between 6.5x55 and 7.62x39 . Used to use .303 but they cause a lot of meat damage with less than perfect shot placement.

25s knock em down! any 25 if only for deer would work, the 243 is quite effective as well! Deer are not as hard as some may argue to kill, with a well placed shot.
I have shot them with everything from my 45/70s, 416 rigby 350s, 338s 300s to my 22-250s, just for variety.
The big bores just punched holes in them and they ran 100 yards away dead, the small fast ones like the 243s for the most partt anchored them, and the big fast ones like 7mm Rums and 30-378s well leave it to you imagination they did it all and more than I asked for.
