I love mine ,I bought it here on the EE. Had two jams when I first mounted it
can't explain why but I haven't had one since.

Mine have always been perfect, mind you I don't have the new style.....only the old. Mostly I use the Smith mounts these days.

I'm very happy with mine. I had some ejection problems at first, but these appeared to be caused by the front scope ring rather than the mount. After repositioning the ring, I had no more problems

Are the Smith mounts generally preferred over the ARMS mounts? If so, how come? Are they much more expensive?

I could'nt get my first one to fit into the receiver correctly, caused excessive windage issue. I replaced it with a warranty replacement, and this one seems to mount correctly. Regarding jams, I have not had any, but I have not shot it extensively enough to draw any conclusions, so far so good. I like the low profile very much.
