I thought I would share my latest project, a Poly Tech MAK-90 set up for home defense.

I added the AK-L/U railed hand guards from FAB DEFENSE and a FastFire red dot optic from Burris.
A Streamlight TLR-1 light will be mounted to the side rail when it arrives.
I have a standard butt stock and pistol grip on the way to replace the thumb hole stock.

No full picks or range report because my new Birch butt stock and pistol grip have not arrived yet.

The FAB rail fits really tight and took some effort to install. No installation instructions were included.
Once I get the stock set installed I will dial in the little Burris see what happens.
I have an Ultimak top rail available just in case this does not work out, but I don't think I'll have a problem.

You bastard...looks good :)
But doesn't 7.62x39 penetrate a bit much for home defence,don't want rounds ending up in the neighbour's house

I've never liked my neighbors ;)




I have soft points and they have to penetrate less than the 155 gr TAP I have in my MK14 Mod 1.
Chances are real good that I will grab one of my Glock 21 pistols before I grab the AK - the AK is really for trespassing Zombies :)

I reinstalled the thumb hole stock last night and checked it out.
The 4 MOA dot is bright and easy to see, I did notice a slight
distortion caused by the curvature of the glass. It's not a problem,
it's just something I noticed.

Also, I think I will stay with the thumb hole stock. I custom fit the
grip months ago and I think I will shorten the LOP a bit though. If I
install the standard butt stock and pistol grip I will have to replace
several original Chinese parts with parts made in the US to comply
with ban rules. I happen to like the Poly Tech FCG and mags.

Other than the future LOP change I think I'm ready to shoot this one :cool:
 
The project has been simplified - I added the TLR-1 and I'm going to upgrade the recoil pad.
I may stain the wood real dark, but not solid black or I may just shoot the butt stock with Line-X...
