I want to buy a polymer mp-446 viking and would just like to hear about the good the bad and the ugly from some people who own and shoot these guns. It will be my first polymer pistol. It will be just for plinking. I already know parts are hard to get and the sights are kind of a love them or hate them kind of thing. I am mostly wondering about reliability, and any major or catastrophic failures of this pistol. I am not interested in a glock\HK\sig etc, just a viking for the simple fact that it is a viking and something different. If the general feeling is that the polymer vikings are trash then I will simply pass on the pistol. I have plenty of others to shoot and enjoy. Thanks to all that leave any advice.
 
Talk to Teapot2. He sells the things on interammo. If you are the average gun owner that shoots his guns at 500 rounds a year I don't see it giving you trouble.
 
I saw a guy in the next stall shooting one. It looked nice and went bang... nothing broke. Another polymer 9mm in the 5-600 dollar range..

It is hard enuff to get SW mags let alone soviet parts... so that would make me look elsewhere. But that is me and I am a practical consumer mostly ;)

Compare the data between the Viking and other polymer guns. Look at parts, magazine and holster availability and the answer should be clear.

I had the pleasure of going down to see Ben in Edmonton not too long ago, and actually purchased the MP-446 in Polymer with the range kit. Just because.

I had a chance to look both the polymer and steel ones over before deciding on which one I wanted. I will say this

Both guns had a great feeling in my hands, I did personally find the steel one to be a little on the heavy side, didn't feel nearly as comfortable in the palm as the Polymer.

All in all, without going to a range yet with it. Work seems to mess with that schedule. It is an absolutely beautiful gun. I spent a full day in Edmonton driving around looking at hand guns before deciding on the MP-446. For the price, and how it felt, I didn't think I could go wrong.

Also, it'll be good to note, the display model that ben had showed me on both, had well over 4000 rds through he figured, and both looked remarkably well, no signs of wear, would have almost swore they could have been new.

All in all a pleasure dealing with Ben at interammo.
