Poor mans 50cal???

The nearest thing I've seen is the Watson's Weapons upper conversion for AR-15s (not being imported); Dlask should start producing the same thing for a non-restricted rifle like the AR-180B.

Again, Birdman does offer a kit at a reasonable price...

FYI and WARNING. I bought one of those Jaded 50 kits off RL1 when he was selling them. I was extremely disapointed with it.

The rifle looked good in the pics and ads, but in real life, it was a POS. Worst bit, IMHO, was the muzzle brake, crappy thin aluminum.

Two of my co-workers in the mall security force have them and swear by them, I however, demand better tools for when MY life is on the line.

I can't wait till we have a parking spot dispute and one of my co-workers realizes he needs a BMG that isn't going to let him down. The fact that one of them calls his the 'nifty 50' really drives me crazy. There is nothing 'nifty' about the Jaded 50. Nothing.

Buyer beware.

PS: RL1, I'm still waiting on that replacement muzzle brake you promised me. Jerk.

I believe that you can, if skilled or know someone who is, convert a 14.5mm PTRD to 50BMG. If it can be done you'd probably be in for under $3K. That being said if you can afford the ammo to shoot it regularly why worry about the rifle cost. Albertatacticalrifle on this board makes some sweet single shot 50s and sells all the reloading equipment. Wolverine also has the Steyr for around $5K. No such think as a cheap 50....sorry.

I got a Jaded 50 from RL1... and he even threw in a free can opener to tune the muzzle break! I have used this rifle extensively as a bean field rifle on Squirrels and Elk and I can tell you with the right bullet selection it is deadly.
I think you are just jealous of RL1's ninja suit dangertree, and I contend that your post is a hijack with personal and malicious undertones:mad:

Thank you Bigredd!

And I will not have my reputation tarnished dangertree..you are lucky that I shipped to you after your cheque for the $28 bounced...twice...

I also specifically instructed you to install the muzzle brake with the "Mountain Dew" facing toward you (per section 4.6.8.3.2 subsection C of the instruction manual)...it is not my fault that you installed it with the cap end facing forward!

Mall Ninjitsu is a serious art that requires years of dedication and practice..perhaps you should think about trying an "easier" martial art or revert back to your paintball/airsoft.

Bigredd, Dangertree, RL1: Damn you comics and your creativity!
I think everyone else missed it, or I am way off base....

I am 100% pleased with the rifle I got from RL1. I won't say that the groupings are the best, but ever since I put the airsoft Aimpoint on it, I've got a GREAT CQB rifle. (I had to take the muzzle-brake off to let me sweep a bit faster with it) but damn, one round and you take down EVERYONE in the room.

I wish it had a repeatable scope mount on it, the duct-tape doesn't stick so well when you swap out the optics. I'm considering using painter's tape (the green masking tape) so that it doesn't start out so sticky to begin with...less dirt will get picked up that way.

The trigger's pretty sweet too since I had the file out to go at it. I took off the bottom edge of the sear, so it's only a 3 oz pull now. Talk about sweet action! You should see the faces of the guys when I let them try it out in a "shoot-no-shoot" scenario in the lunch-room at the mall. AWESOME! I tell them it's not a "Negligent discharge" but the boss still chews them out and docks their pay for a bag worth of airsoft pellets.

I've been thinking about getting a tactical light for this setup too, in case I have to make a REALLY long shot (you never know when the mall kiddies will try and take out a gum-machine at the far end of the mall!) I'm leaning towards an aircraft landing light. I'll wire it up to the batteries on my mall-cart, and use it as a pre-shoot warning light! Anyone know if Mall-carts have enough juice to get out to the airport? I'll need to get a light from there. I'll talk to the security boys out there, they'll understand my needs completely and will no doubt look at my setup to see how they can incorporate it into their security plans.

Oh, yeah. Crowd control gasses....make sure you stay back out of the clouds of CS when you're shooting. The vortex from the bullet passing through the cloud will draw some of the CS Straight back up the bore of the rifle, and when you open the chamber it may get you in the face. Not so much fun trying to shoot with your gas-mask on!

Take it from me, these are AWESOME pieces of kit, you should snap one up from RL1 as soon as you can. He's a great AAAAA+++++ seller, and you should trust my word as a Mall ninja...our word is our bond.

(Please, that was all satire, laugh....and I'll have another sip of OFC.)

I'd respond to RL1's baseless slander, but his lawyer is sitting in my livingroom right now. I find this intimidating (I think he's a Samoan). All will be clear when I file my papers. (That muzzle break note in the manual sub-section C was an addendum AFTER the fact, nice try!).

BTW: RL1, I have it on good authority that Airsoft is like paintball, only with 10000x more cool factor.

So there.

Well I want to go record as being VERY dissapointed.
As I am watching my pennies, I could not justify the $28 for the kit, so I ordered the plans for $3.95.
I built it according to plans (or so I thought), and believed all was good, up until the test firing. Due to the plans calling for a can of Mountain Dew to be attached to the front of the barrel as a muzzle brake, I did just that.
ABSOLUTELY NO MENTION WAS MADE OF THE FACT THAT THE CAN MUST BE EMPTY!
Due to this gross oversight, there was a tremendous mess made. I now have sticky pop residue over every wall, floor and cieling of my living room.
Not impressed!

I'm having my Jaded .50 rebarreled, looking for a heavier contour. Been browsing gas pipe. Hoping to get a faster twist as well, as the 1-0" twist rate on the standard model is a bit slow I find, and when I load a heavy/high BC marble on top of a propellant charge of 2 lady fingers I get poor groups at 5yards.
