Does anyone know if the Port 308 that you can get from districorp is actually 308win or 7.62 NATO?

If it is 7.62 NATO that means you can't/shouldn't shoot it in say a Savage 12FV chamber right??

I thought they had something different about the sholders of the brass or something to do with the length. What exactly is the difference?

The cartridge dimensions are identical. .308 is loaded to higher pressures then 7.62x51.
 
So that will in no way negatively affect anything even with the headspace difference? Even when firing a LOT of this particular ammo through any type of gun?
 
I had problems running surplus 7.62 in my rem700 bolt gun, I had to beat the bolt in and extraction was a #####, so after a couple of rounds thinking it was just this one round, I gave the ammo away but then I bought an M305 so now I want my ammo back ;)

Anyone know... Is this ammo corrosive or non?
 
Ok... i checked out that link.... so just so I have it straight.... it is the CHAMBER that is longer in a 7.62 rifle than a comercial 308win rifle, but both the CARTRIDGES are the exact same dimensions (aside from the pressure) is that correct?

So will this port brass be reloadable, I mean in theory it should stretch less since it is thicker than the commercial stuff right?

Also is the reminton UMC ammo actually 7.62NATO or is it .308?

The port is berdan primed, not easily reloaded.
UMC/AE/WWB is all loaded closer to the 7.62 velocity then .308.
There use to be some Hirtenberger austrian surplus around, it was boxer primed and very nice brass to load. The only drawback to running surplus through a fairly accurate rifle like the 12FV is that it won't be all that accurate. If it was me, I'd spend the $350 on a reloading setup and components.
 
Any one know if Milarm still has some in stock, i have gone through 700 rounds with my 700 LTR, no duds, no feed or extraction problems, its good for about 1 MOA, with the odd flyer, or that could just be me :rolleyes: at $300 a case i intend to pick up another 1000 rounds this week.
 
I know this ammo is sold as "Non Corrosive", but there is plenty of Eastern bloc ammo that is sold as "Non Corrosive" and from what I've heard its just less corrosive then other stuff. So is this stuff 100% Non Corrosive ?
