Is this what this rifle is ?
Side mounted bayo and cleaning rod , spur shaped trigger guard
Stamped 1886 .
I believe this is the proper bayo too. Looks weird fitted to the side lug. Other searches show a "colonial" model with the same snap-on handguard
Any ideas as to a value on one , good+ condition ?

Yup - M1886 Kropatschek Infantry Rifle. The "Short Rifle" goes for more, and the "Carbine" more yet. It's difficult to say what they're worth, as very few change hands - one of those very little demand when you want to sell, but very few available when you want to buy. You can make up brass and shoot them, but mostly they sit in lockers.

Yours is complete with cleaning rod and has a bayo, but the condition is just "Good+". I agree with the $250 estimate. Even if in Excellent condition I doubt you'd see more than $400.

Thx guys ;)
Your input is greatly appreciated.
I take it that this is a 8mm of a sort , but which 8mm are we looking at ?
I came across info that these used blackpowder charges ?

Original ctg was loaded with BP 244 gr bt 1700 fps 8x60R. c1900 this ctg was loaded with smokeless and vel increased to 2100 fps and case neck shortened 8x56R Krop. NB this is not the same ctg as 8x56R Mannlicher.
