Portugese, South African, IVI, Wolf, PMC ... who all makes 7.62x51 FMJ 147 grainers? Who makes the more accurate in said bullets? Where would one purchase a 1K lot of some of these for his M14's ... ;) Thoughts, opinions and views are all welcome?

Portuguese has been off the commercial shelves for a couple of years, South African is available in reduced quantities for over $.50 each and has received variable reviews, Wolf is not approved for sale in Canada, PMC is available at retail but I don't know anything about it.

I like the FNM (Portuguese) and the Austrian Hirtenberger that was available before the FNM was even better, and boxer primed too. I've still got 2k of FNM that I bought for $300/1000.

LOL, see your problem with nudge, nudge, wink, wink, is that I'm a degenerate hoarder and can't bear the thought of selling any of my supply.

Bashaw Sports still had cases of SA for around $650/1260 last time I was there and TSE has the PMC. Marstar has the the Norinco too. I feel sorry for you on the shipping costs. I remember what it was like to live north of 60 (and the Arctic Circle too).

Well I see some South African for sale shipped in the sales section on the board for not a too bad price of $350/500 ... and have a friend in BC who is going to come here soon on his own plane so the shipping would be to my friend in BC which I don't think would be too badly in the south. I'm curious on accuracy? I had some Porkchop FNM couple years ago and it was good ... I"ve even shot SA and it was good to go ... was curious about other types, opinions, views or actual testing on FMJ 147 grainers. I can't believe what it costs for surplus bullets nowadays ... DOH ... :(

Yeah ya did jennis and appreciated ... tryna see others views, opinions, actual info on their results. Tiriaq on the board sold me a bunch of ammo years ago that was Port FNM I believe ... for .308 and some other for 30-06 FMJ's.

Norinco is not available according to their site. Leonidas, so it's purdy accurate for surplus ammo? Seems to be a good price also. Is it non-corrosive? Cheers all,

Wolf ammo probably wouldn't pass the import rules we have. The ammo is crap. I for one am happy we don't have the stuff all around here like it is in the states.

I wouldn't shoot Wolf ammo out of YOUR gun.

I shot 4k of Wolf 7.62x39 last month in TN. Not one ammo related problem and it's non-corrosive.

I'm mistaken. It was 4k of Romanian "Hot Shot" brand 7.62x39 that I shot, not Wolf.

I can't imagine Russian Wolf being worse than Romanian, and the Romanian was excellent.

Norinco shot really well for me, better than anything except Port.

However it's steel cased ammo and in my opinion overpriced at $500/ thou. Even at todays high prices $350 seems more reasonable for copper washed steel cased ammo. I suppose if you don't reload though...

I'd love to try Wolf. From what I understand quality isn't the issue it's just that the testing process is too much of a pain in the ass relative to the market here.

Everything seems to be real bloody expensive ... the Norinco isn't that bad ... but you're right as we can't re-load it ... I'd love to find 1K of something in 147gr FMJ to shoot outta my M14's.

Pmc

Stay away from it - none of my norcs in various states of tune shoot it well - my bolt guns dont like it either - remington umc shoots well in all of them - similar price--

Where would you find UMC 147gr FMJ for my M14's? Or IVI, PMC, Port or SA for decent prices in Canaduh?

Remington UMC hardball - LeBaron or Bass Pro. All the milsurp only at gun shows or from GUNNUTZ - I have gotten several thousand rounds of Austrian and South African that way. Marstar has some chinese 308 coming in. Cant vouch for it but all the Norinco ammo in other calibers has shot well for me so I suspect the 308 will be good also.
