Now anyone that knows me is aware I'm a big Enfield, Mauser and Ross fan. Have had alot of them and others over the years, but never one of these Portuguese Veguario things (see, I can't even spell it). Well I came across this one a few weeks ago and because it was cheap, excellent condition with super shiney bore and totally matching including bayonet I took it home. Even the sling is correct. So today I finally got to the range with the beast along with some reduced 8X57 handloads. To my surprise it grouped under 1 1/2 inches at 75 yards and with no recoil. I love this thing!

they are interesting rifles and i really like the sights. i find that mine doesn't like heavy bullets though. i've missed a muley buck with mine and taken a whitetail doe.

I've never seen one of those before, it certainly has an odd placement of the bolt handle.

Glad you got a shooter!

And bolt reassembly is actually fairly easy, if you either have someone else hold the main bolt body while you turn in the bolt head and cocking piece, or just have the bolt body in a padded vice. Otherwise you need extra hands, like Shiva.

Yours in some nice

Yours looks some nice, I got mine many years ago for $40.00 tax in. The bolt was in a bag unassembled. I have fired lots of surplus 8mm through it with no problems. I find it is nice accurate too (with in my limits :))

a few weeks ago, I saw one for sale for $ 650.00 in excellent to mint condition.
Is this an acceptable price ?
