I seem to have a tendency to open groups up always the same way - the shots that i blow are off to the left, about 3/4 in. Elevation is OK. I can't figure out what is happening. My trigger is set to about 1 lb. I place the pad of my index finger on the trigger. I wonder if this is not causing me to "push" the rifle to the left? Would I be better off squeezing with the very tip of the finger rather than the pad? How do you guys and gals do it?

If you are talking the middle pad of your index finger you have the correct position on the trigger. If you are a right handed shooter and push the shots left you might be pushing slightly with your shoulder.

Papaclaude, if you find someone close to Ottawa that gives shooting lessons please send me a pm. I have spent the last 18 months trying to improve my rifle shooting. The one area I have undoubtably improved in is my understanding of how inconsistant I am.

Good luck!

Thanx. I hadn't thought of that possibility. I'll keep an eye open for that possibility. The screwed up shots are very consistent - always about the same error, always to the left, always OK vertically, so it has to be something lateral that I'm doing. The shoulder thing really sounds plausible.

Warren, I have no idea where you could get a shooting coach - maybe the Connaught range?
