To date I have found no acceptable scope or dot set up for the VZ. I have been considering the AK POSP rail ( the ones modified for the VZ ) on the VZ58 with the POSP scope and mount. This will require me to drill the VZ receiver leaving holes in it when I have to sell it or swap it back to original. So the cost of modifying will be pretty high Im looking for opinions before I start.

Is this set up uncomfortable? It looks like It may be just right possibly but I cant tell.

I would like to clone this set up, just not sure it accualy works.

I doubt the cheek weld on the pictured setup works..... plus the mount is too far back....

Westrifle, Hical.ca and possibly eastwave sell a drill tap VZ 58/858 SVD style side plate that extends further forward than what you see pictured... you will notice pretty much everybody who has made a Dragunov looking VZ clone like Dmitri for eg has used on of those mounts, to allow the SVD style POSP to sit further forward.

The one from westrifle would probably be my top choice. Looks nice too.

The mount wasn't exactly designed for CSA receivers.... Some extra modifying will be required,, there are threads about this procedure if u search the forum

I have a posp scope on my csa vz 58 rifle. Drilled one hole in the receiver and used an exsisting hole in the receiver to secure
My westrifle rail, had to modify the rail a bit. No big deal

This is one of the best scopes I own. Always holds zero even when taken off.
I love it. Plus it keeps it classic

The vz 58 rifle was made in the late 50's the PO style scopes were early as well.
Cold war era scope for a cold era rifle.

I realise that the csa rifle is a new manufactered rifle. Nothing has changed except for quality

So yeah.. classic

POSP works well. I bought the rail from Corwin arms.

Although accurate for what they are they are close range rifles really. if you want an accurate military rifle buy a K31 and have done with it

Thanks, yes it is. This one is military.

I like wood. I think plastic looks too much like plastic.

I started with the original plastic stock. I hated it. Loved the beaver barf, then got a wood one but now real wood stock I refinished has been way over done and is now dark red with a crazy high gloss that can blind you. No now its in after market plastic so I don't feel bad to shoot it, easier to clean.
