Hello. I've just passed my possessions and acquisitions tests. Is there a better way to file and pay the fee, than sending in a money order and in the mail? Most other things, I can register online by photo copying and emailing. And a book says that there is a 28 day grace period. Is that a set in stone time limit or could I expect my licence earlier?

I was never aware that you could take the test online. Half the exam is writen and the other half is practical. How do you complete the practical part?

I mailed mine in and everyone I know mailed theirs.
Our instructor strongly suggested paying with a credit card number on the form. He said the process will be much quicker this way.

I sent my RPAL app in, with a money order. My licence was issued 29 days after they received my package...

My buddy did the same, but one of his references was out of country, when they tried to contact him. He got his ref to call in, about a week later, but, by that time, his application had been moved to "the slow pile" (I forget what the CFO actually called it). He was told it could take up to 3 months longer!! I think it's been about 65 days now, since they received his application..... Still not issued... Make sure your references are able to take the call. Once you've had your interview, call your references and get them to phone in ASAP!

There is no electronic option for firearms license. You must mal it in. You can read the "Shorten PAL approval time" thread at the top of this forum.

100%, should be a requirement, most definately SEND IT REGISTERED & SIGNATURE REQUIRED. This is the only way to know for certain that they received it at all. You can see in the 'Shorten' thread many people have posted their approval time-lines. Personally it was issued on day 28. In Ontario, right now I'm seeing 30-45 days. Given that there's no longer people doing LGR stuff, those folks should be moved over to licensing... which should put our wait times back to 28 days.

Good luck. And take photocopies of everything you send. I've only read 1 instance of someone needing them, but it's sure nice to have 'em.
