Ok...new to the 1911. Just finished the build gun and I think I have a problem. If I hold the trigger and pull back the slide, when I release it the hammer falls. I think the interupter is a fraction of a millimeter too short. And one have this problem? I haven't fired this yet.

DON'T shoot it. Unless you are ready for an exciting experience. Could be a number of things, from the disconnector, sear/hammer engagement, trigger/sear spring. Make sure the hammer and sear engage cleanly and positively; check disconnector function; see that parts are moving freely. If you suspect the disconnector, try a different one. If the hammer is following the slide down, or releasing from the impact of the slide closing, the pistol could empty the magazine really fast.

If I take the slide off and push down the disconector with a pin or something it works. Like the disconnector is .5 or less mm's too short.

EDIT: this is a pic of how I measured the disconector with a caliper. It is a hair under 33mm long. Anyone got a longer one?

Is it OK when you rack the slide with your finger off the trigger? If so your disconnector is not being pushed up enough, try to bent the center leaf on your sear spring ahead a little bit.

Yea, if i rack the slide with my finger off the trigger it will #### fine. I'll try the spring thing but it seem like the disconnector is to short cause when I take off the slide and push it just so that the top of it is a fraction of a mm below being flush with the frame it resets.

"Spot"ed a little bit of metal onto the tip of the disconector with a mig welder and problem solved.
