Possible extractor damage on Sig 226?

I read somewhere a while back that it was a big no-no to hand load a round into the chamber of a 226 (maybe all autos) and then release the slide to snap back closed. Damage to the extractor hook is rumoured to result. Does this seem right?

I want to use one of the Omega chamber locks which must be inserted through an open chamber and then release the slide. When locked through the barrel, it will not allow the slide to even be opened. However, risk of damaging the gun makes me a bit wary of doing this.

Any thoughts?

Don't know. I suspect it would work the same way. If it didn't cause any extractor damage and would still grip the "round" that was locked into the barrel, that would be just fine.

Internal extractor = bad.
External extractor = slightly better, but still not ideal.

Post a pic of the right hand side of your slide if unsure.

I wouldn't be jamming something into the chamber of one of MY guns if it forced the extractor over a "rim". Especially because those things are probably not made of nice soft brass.
