Possible stupid question

First time I came across this situation so I'll ask the experts.. I had the powder bar set on my Dillon 550 for 6.5 gr of Unique which I was loading .223 with.. Now max load is 6.4 gr of Unique for .45 ACP.. After changing the dies to .45 I noticed it was only throwing 5.4 gr consistently . So I'm going to assume that changing the dies affected the powder throw..IS this correct?
 
I load with a Dillon 550 and your experience does not sound logical.

I am guessing that either the powder knob got turned in the change over, or the powder die got set to a different height and changed how much the powder bar was moving sideways. It should be adjusted so that the powder bar comes across all the way.

Why Unique in a 223? Shooting lead bullets?

Nope 55gr fmjbt...It's a light load developed by a guy at my club ...50yd indoor range target shooting..only good for bolt action but extremely accurate and easy on the wear and tear on the barrel.
 
i would look at the length of stroke on the powder bar. As I am nowhere near my Dillon, it sounds like either an adjustment issue on your bar or it's not going the full stoke . I understand your mouse fart rounds, 5.5 of Titegroup allowed me to watch my 55 gr bullet arc in the air at 75m.
