Well its getting down to the wire in eastern MB for me. I have never hunted in GHA26 or 36 for deer. Any help for a newer hunter. PM or any suggestion would help.

Was out there last weekend, lots of hunters no deer! Best bet is to get off the beaten track, tons of road warriors out there. Most of the deer seem to have been pushed back into the bush. Hunt ridges but be careful of your footing there's lots of ice under the snow. Nopoming probably hasn't been pounded as hard as the Whiteshell area.

Thanks for the responses, might head out there one more time. Love the time out in the bush. Sooner hopefully not later I will get my deer.

Update.... went out tonight and did a bit of exploring. Walked into a ridge I could see off the highway that I'd been meaning to explore for a couple of years. Result... 1 nice plump forkhorn. Wasn't expecting to see anything in this wind but ended up seeing two. Just goes to show that it ain't over till the fat lady sings. I guess I can eat backstraps along with my wife's tag soup now!:D

I have yet to taste a soup that doesnt have tags in it. Im becoming a friggen tag collector now. 5 tags ( 3 deer, 1 moose, 1 bear) sitting in my top drawer spanning 3 years. I couldnt even bag one grouse in the 6 times I went out this fall. Hunting morale for me is at an all time low.

Thanks guys this makes me feel a bit better. I did great grouse hunting this year for the first time. Had 12 total for the season. Now I love getting out deer hunting. I've got the getting out down. Need to get the finding deer thing down. I have spent my time at the range, when I see one in range its gonna drop. For all of us that have not had the pleasure of shooting a deer yet, good luck and NEVER give up boys and girls.
