My PAL is up for renewal this year and I was wondering how many months lead time do I need to renew it and what do I need to renew it? Just send them the application and the money? Considering it took them almost 5 months for them to deliver my SKS to me because they screwed up a number on the serial, should I have appplied last year? I'm also in Ontario if that makes any difference.

I mailed my renewal the first week of March. The CFC website shows it being received and processed on the March 24. It expires in mid-May, so I'm confident I'll have it back in time.

Count on at least two months to be safe.

Two years ago I applied about 3 months in advance... then I forgot to follow up when it did not arrive and it was soon to expire... when I realized it would expire when I was away at a gun show I was pissed. I phoned them while I was at the gun show and told them I was in violation and that all the customers guns in my shop should not be there and in effect they had put me out of business...

I was told my renewal had been approved and they just had not sent it out... I received it about a week later...

So if you have applied I would be making a phone call every week of the last month due....

Nice to see posts about the CFC getting the processing done in a reasonable amount of time. They must have made improvements to the system and increased the manpower.

Oh - and they will send you renewal forms about three months before it expires - but you can always send your own if you wish before that time.

don't bet the morgage on that.better off downloading the forms off their site and send in.take advantage of the amnesty and save a few bucks and send it in early
