There are a few ways.

2. Start a Museum.

3. Start a movie prop studio/ movie armourer service.

4. Take up Olympic style shooting.

5. Become a trapper. I had heard (but not had confirmed) that trappers are still allowed to use a handgun for ethical dispatch of an animal but I don't know if that is legal across all of Canada or just some Provinces and Territories.

6. Buy antique status handguns.

i'm in the process right now, ask me in a month or so how it works out! i have a mineral extraction company and often am in remote wilderness alone prospecting so i have applied. We will see if they deem this dangerous enough work to approve.

As a former Brinks employee and ATC holder, I would have also thought that armoured guard employees would not qualify for the current transfer exemption clause however
I had a Garda employee tell me that he has had two fellow employees successfully complete post-freeze approved transfers through the MB CFO.

Has anyone else heard of approved transfers like this?

Handguns didn't go prohib overnight, they only stopped issuing registration certificates for them. See 12.2.

There's an exception to 12.2 for ATC holders (97.1) so yes, we can still buy handguns as they will still issue registration certificates in case of ATC holders.

From what I've been told by people awaiting post-freeze transfers, it had something to do about the CFO trying to figure out how to deal with the exception.

Yes! He absolutely can. Any licensed PAL holder can borrow any firearm that he has the legal right to acquire. So, and restricted firearm can be borrowed by him from another.
