post pre 64 model 70 action conversion

I picked up an old push feed model 70 which is in 243. How ever I measured the action at 7 5/8 hole to hole. So its actually a long action. I was wondering if it's possible to covert it from the short action configuration to the long action configuration? Hoping to build a 280ai.

U need to change the bolt stop,magazine box , fowler , & maybe the ejector not worth the hazzle just get a long action or build a 284 same specs as the 280 that's why the284 was designed .

I was also thinking about both those cartridges two. May still price out those action mods I did get the rifle really cheap.

The only parts you need to buy is the follower and spring.

Knock the spacer out of the magazine box and cut the bolt stop back the same amount the spacer occupies.

Western gun parts in Edmonton should have the follower and spring, probably the correct bolt stop too

rgv speaks the truth. I did the same thing when I opened up my 300Wm to H&H-length to accommodate 208/210gr bullets.
