POSTPONED IDPA Match at the EOHC

There not, yet.

I'm guessing you mean to say "They're not" but we'll leave the spelling lesson for another time. ;)

Does not stop them from having a match.

Actually, it should. IDPA is a 'for profit' corporation and the name is copyrighted. Other clubs (those that affiliate) pay for the right to use the name "IDPA". By advertizing an "IDPA match" without affiliation you are in fact stealing intellectual property.

But that's up to the Area Coordinator to sort out. Let's see if he will.....

Well that's up to the area coordinator to get off his butt and contact me.

Steve Shirely IDPA Canada National Director had asked me to get IDPA matches started at the EOHC. IF someone else wants the job, they can have it. Are you volunteering?

Hello

Steve David sent me a copy of your PM. I think we can both agree Stephen that it is difficult to communicate if we are unaware of your intentions or more to the point what your plans are. That said no harm done so let me get off my butt and applaud you for introducing IDPA to your club members. As a Certified IDPA Safety Officer Instructor you certainly are qualified to run an IDPA match for your club.

I will leave it to you to determine the level of interest for IDPA shooting in your locale. I suspect with work you will attact a solid base of shooters. It won't be easy and organizing club matches when you start out can be onerous and often thankless at first. Armed with interested shooters I am sure you will have little trouble convincing your club to affiliate. The process is simple and I am sure you need little guidance in the process.

We all look forward to hearing how your match goes. Please feel free to post the results on the IDPA Canada web site. Too, we look forward to see your club join the growing ranks of affiliated clubs.

Steve David contact information is located on our web site should you need his support.

I will be in Ottawa in early August for a couple of days. I will send you a PM when dates are confirmed.

ps Are you going down to the Ontario Provincial match in August? I hope to see you there.

Where is this club? What city?

40kms down wind (East) of Ottawa.

eohc.ca

As previously posted by STICKER, this is our clubs first IDPA match,
and we really want to make this a success.
We have been receiving lots of interest from members of our
club to get this going.
Appologies(sp?) for taking so long.
Along with STICKER and myself, we will be enlisting the help
of another experienced IDPA guy from another local club to help out.
But it will take more than just us to pull it off.
We will greatly appreciate any help people can give on the Sat afternoon setup,
and also during the match the next day.(bring screw gun svp)
It will make the 3rd? club in the Ottawa area to go IDPA.
PS: we are able to have 2 and 3 gun matchs at our facilities.

Isn't Steve Shirley the CDPA National Director? (the CSSA version Defensive Pistol)?

Hi Quigley

No Steve Shirley was the IDPA Canada National Director. But he had to give it up as he is off in Afghanistan, guarding a dam or the like. Hope he makes it back okay:rockOn:

See post #6 Above. I have taken the liberty to posting your announcement of your club's shoot on the IDPA Canada web site.

Oh crap...that's right...I remember now. Too many Steve's and Daves for my brain to sort out.

In any event...good luck with it. I'm sure you'll get a good turn out.

Greetings,

We don't have IDPA in Quebec but EOHC not far from MTL. IPSC being the only game in Quebec and I'm dying to try out IDPA, can I participate in this event?

Tön

If anyone that will be coming from Quebec, and requires a letter of invitation,
please PM me for one.

We also want people to come to the match to check it out
even if they are not going to shoot it.
This will be like a demo match to introduce
IDPA to area shooters
