pot belly 336 marlin questions????

I ordered a 336 based on how it looked since ive always wanted one. It was cheap and looked neglected as it has a little rust on the mag tube and barrell. It has a thick "pot belly" forestock, and I didn't ask the serial# or date of mfg but it's still en-route in the post, so i am wondering if someone can tell me if this is from any certain era. i do know it's pre-safety, and has a non checkered walnut pistol grip stock/forestock. And from the picture it almost looks as if it has a slightly larger breech than the newer ones i've seen. Any info would be appreciated.

My father has one that is similiar to your description. His is a rifle, not a carbine, half length tube mag. But the Pot belly is bang on. His is early to mid sixties for sure
