Potential accuracy: Push feed vs CRF

I've seen a few forums argue this one way or another so I'm curious as to what everyone here thinks(or knows) about this subject.

I know most accurate bolt guns are built on push feed actions, but is the accuracy potential the same for a controlled feed action such as a Winchester model 70?

Is the reason most precision bolt guns are built off of push feed actions because they are more accurate? Or because they are simply easier to machine true?

Very curious about this as I love model 70 and CZ 550 actions but wouldn't want to turn one into a precision build if it was a waste of time for some reason that I can't think of. To me, I would think the accuracy potential would be the same given the gunsmith at hand was equally talented with both types.

Thoughts?

This is an old debate. There are a number of really good precision rifles built on both of these action types but for the most part PF is easier for most gunsmiths to make accurate which makes it a slightly cheaper way to go. FN makes a great precision rifle based on the Model 70 action and nobody would dispute its accuracy. Personally, I think you should just by a CZ or FN in a CRF if you want a precision rifle, there aren't that many smiths in Canada who do CRF actions and by the time you are all said and done you will likely be in the price range of an FN or CZ Precision rifle (probably more than a CZ) and the re-sale value would be horrid. Even PF actions that have been smithed rarely hold their value. Just my 2 cents...

Excellent point on the resale value, I've been noticing that a lot lately.

The FN rifles are very nice, I've definitely drooled over a couple of those.

This is mostly to satisfy my curiosity on the subject. I may plan a CRF build one day but I don't have anything in the works.
