All,

In an effort to cut down on the "What NR Black Rifle do I buy ?" and "What NR Black Rifles rifles are available in xx caliber ?" type thread clogging up the boards, proposing (per advice from a recent thread) that we make a comprehensive reference list of commonly available NR Semi-auto Black Rifles (& Red too I guess) and sticky it. Perhaps it can serve as a ready reference to start researching what is available at different price points and calibers and inturn have more fruitful and relevant discussions on rifle matters. I can take on the responsibility of adding to it as new rifles are released providing they get flagged.

As part of a response to a thread, I took a stab at creating a first draft of such a list. There was input provided by a few members that resulted in a more refined second list reproduced below.

My intent with this thread is two fold,

1. To gauge if there is support to sticky such a list and if so, to ensure that it gets stickied.
2. To make such a list as comprehensive as possible. Therefore, do provide any additions/ deletions/ modifications.

List is below,

Notes:
- Used approximate retail price for categorization and not accounted for offers and promotions.
- Used approximate selling price for used firearms that I have noticed on EE for rifles that are no longer available new via retail. Therefore, the caveat is that I may be off on current trends.
- Have not accounted for
* taxes and shipping
* oddball, one off, ultra rare or obscure firearms. If you feel one needs to be added, post and I will add it.
* surplus, bolt actions or shotguns
- Have restricted (hah!) this list to the more popular calibers. Again, if there are more that should be added, post it.

Thoughts ?

Right on, good list.

I hope M96’s can be readily available in the future. Would be a good addition for NR lovers

I have often considered doing the same, but many will accuse you of giving the anti-gunners a list of firearms to lobby for prohibitions against. We all know the RCMP are fully aware of what is available but lots of the General Public does not know and to the lefty alarmist's some of it might be quite frightening. It would be a handy resource for sure but it won't just be used by newcomers looking to get into the sport but rather for hit pieces in the media as well as by ignorant anti-gunners to make demands.

If you decide to go ahead be prepared with your flame suit as you will be well cooked by those who feel the risk outweighs the benefit.

Despite wanting to help people be aware of what is available I also feel the list would do more harm than good. For that reason I vote against it. If they are truly intereste, they can look around and ask some questions to get the info they need.

This should not be a Sticky. You just give the Liberals who infiltrate CGN the information they need for future Bans/prohibitions.

OP I can see the point of getting more people in the sport, however I still think this info is a double edged sword.

It is irrelevant to give them this as there are other ways they can find it out. The anti gun group pushes for no civilian ownership of guns in any case and they are happy to start with semi automatics now and just work down the list until everything is banned or is prohibited.

This information is a good piece for those who want to look into these as options however. I would put the wk180 c into the 1000 to 1500 group now however.

as a Newb this is actually really helpful. ive been one of those guys asking this exact question!!!

in the 7.62x39 does the SKS count?? its a great entry into the semi world for cheap but not really a "black" gun...

This is not a good idea... Listing all of our non restricted rifles with price points is just a textbook for an anti to see and copy as to what to ban next.

Really really poor idea... one of the admins or mods should get rid of this thread and any others like it. Obscurity and truth will be our ability to fight back.

The antis do not need this list. They just need to go to any firearms store website to see all of whats available. They can even do a filter for semi-auto non restricted on countless site sponsors websites. Plus there are countless similar threads here where someone can put together a similar list ans the EE is divided up nicely for them. This list will help us more than it hurts us.

Post it up!

As Paul stated previously, it would be easier to just check vendor listings if they wanted a list with a more accurate pricing than our list. Actually, just typing "List of non restricted black rifles in Canada" can fetch you a convenient list. No account necessary to do either of the previous actions, unlike our board. I have no problem with this sticky, honestly.

Edit: Another point I thought of: while I do agree that our own listing may make it more convenient for antis, it would certainly make it more convenient to newer members of the shooting community, thus increasing chances of retaining members. I know for a fact that those interested in a new hobby love to ask for lists/rundowns before getting started, and lists like these are shared on anonymous boards all the time. So, even if we don't do it, someone else will.
