What velocities should one expect from a powder coated soft lead bullet. Before leading occurs?

I have generally loaded under 1000fps with them. But I am thinking of loading them a bit hotter for some fun. I found a lb of 2400 that I forgot about.

357, 41, 44 mags
I use a Lee TL bullet with princess auto shake and bake red if that matters.

I load 23gr h110 in my marlin 44mag (20" barrel) with soft lead pc (tool blue) for years, from the data i would say its round 1600+

I can say the accuracy hasn't changed over the years (would assume if it was leading accuracy would be sh1t)

I also use 51gr imr3031 for 45-70 400gr cast pc, which again from data would be 1600-1800, but did try 7mm rem mag and accuracy was awful (2000+)

It's pressure, not velocity that you need to worry about. Your cartridges will do fine with softer lead and a proper coat of PC assuming the loads themselves are safe... A lot of leading is from improper bullet fit which PC does a great job of resolving.

Probably only be 1400fps max anyways. Just I have got some leading in the 357 with Lee lube using light loads with 38spl. Haven't had any since I changed to PC. Just wasn't sure if I could crank it up a bit and have to worry about leading. I don't plan on using a gas check.

Just I have read that plated bullet data can be used for PC.

PC coated bullets are in a different league than lubed bullets. For your purposes I doubt you will have any issues assuming you are doing things properly

I have quit using GC on anything that is powder coated even slugs with GC bases. I dont send my PC bullets as fast as I've read other folks do tho, usually around 12-1400 fps but have used some up to 1700. I have never experienced leading with an PC slug but I do make sure they are a tight fit...either from mold dia. or multiple coats of PC.
