Just wondering if anyone does this with good results. Obviously the variety of .308 projectiles is far larger than .311 and I mostly reload .308. Rather than buying separate .311 bullets that I rarely reload with I was thinking of just powder coating some of my .308s when I need to. That should bump it up to about .311 but I’m curious to know if they shoot as well as a purpose made .311.

Haven't tried that specific size yet but from what I've done with pistol bullets that seems very reasonable. Gloss tool blue from Princess Auto adds about 3thou. It's possible other powders will give slightly more or 2 coats would give you lots but I would start to be concerned about quality doing that.

I didn't see mention that he was starting with jacketed bullets. My experience is with lead.
Interesting question that I haven't seen discussed before. Can't see that it wouldn't work quite well. Look at all the other things that powder coating is used for. Definitely need a good degreasing and a scuffing or very light acid etching might help. Was going to say light sand blasting but that might be a bit rough on the bore....

yes, those were all cast slugs and worked very very well but have never tried that with jacketed.
