Are properly sized and alloyed/hardened powder coated bullets up to the task when loaded in cartridges like the .454 and .500? I can't find much info on guys loading PC bullets in cartridges generating 50,000+ PSI. Running a gas check on a PC bullet seems lame to me, I'd like to avoid it but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it were just necessary...

You have to remember, especially if you are going for accuracy, that the last thing out the barrel is the heel of the bullet. If there are any imperfections, it will affect accuracy. Not too much of an issue if you only shoot under 200 when hunting. YMMV

I've loaded 458winmag 485 gr cast PC bullets with full power loads and they were fine past 2100 fps.

I load 440 grain powder coated and gas checked for the 500sw & 300 grain powder coated and gas checked for the 454. they shoot amazing and I have zero issues with leading or PC separation. I would not attempt to load cast bullets in the 460sw. The speed alone would be too much for lead IMO and loading heavier projectiles defeats the purpose.
