When an action complet w/ barrel, what is used to prevent surfaces that are not to be coated from being coated?? Barrel interior, scope mounting screw holes, etc. Thanks.

Well..I've never used it but after watching many episodes of American Chopper I'd say not much can be done for screw holes. They are always using a tap to clean out mounting holes on the frames.

I've always put an old screw/bolt in the hole to protect the threads! Paint right over it and then when the paint dries just take them out and, tada, clean threads!

for barrels get some of those cotton puff bore brushes to fit bore and chamber or use tapered rubber plugs. probabley 100 other ways use what you have kinda deal.

powder coating

I understand that the painted surface under goes a heat treatment after the powder is sprayed on. Not too hot to affect any heat treating but likly hot enough to melt 'rubber'? So what is done for the barrel, bolt slide areas ?

sorry I totally missed the crucial "powder" part of the coating. Disregard, advice intended for spray on coatings and oven dry.

I have been wondering the same thing. Are you going to do it yourself? I was going to take my stuff to Dutch at PilotButte and get them to do it. Maybe I will call Corlane and ask what they do to prevent it from going where you don't want it.

The place my buddy uses for his industrial valves is in Mississauga. They grit blast the surface of the object and the temperature is raised to four hundred degrees farrenheit. I do not know if this temperature will change the barrel or receiver for the worse.
