What do you guys recommend in powder for a 270 WSM using a 130 grain Ballistic Silver Tip?? I have heard that Hercules Reloader 19 is really good as well as H4831SC and Varget. Do any of you guys reload a 270 WSM or have any knowledge they'd like to share on the topic?
Cheers!!

RL 19 61.5-65.5
IMR 4350 59-63
H4831sc 62.5-66.5

Are all liste din Noslers manual...

I use H4831SC in my 300WSM.

IMR 4350 is listed as the most accurate powder, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.. :D

Yeah all of the above have loads listed somewhere...I settled on IMR 4350. I am trying to get my hands on some Magpro...it has been getting a lot of press on the Short Mag Board. I have been told by a lad who has done more reloading than I that a full case works better in the 270WSM and he says to try a powder that can be loaded safely Compressed.
I believe that you could load some safe C/C loads with the slower powders like H1000, H4832, Retumbo, and R22?
I don't know if this is solid advice but I am gonna work up to Compressed loads to see if they are more accurate as some people claim :?:

I've had great success with 66-67grs of H4831 and 130gr Rem Cor-lokts as well as 130Gr Interbonds. However my go to round so far is 140gr Accubond over top of 71gr of retumbo. Use that when I'm hunting mulies and elk. Use the 130gr bullets when I'm chasing deer only.

Best velocities in my 300WSM were with RL19. I tried H4831SC, IMR4831, H414, H4350 & RL22. RL 19 just seemed to be the ticket...

I've been using Reloader 19 for my .270 WSM with a 130 Barnes TSX, WW Cases, and CCI 250 primers. I chrony'd it at about 3225 FPS with a powder charge weight close to the max. out of a 24 " barrel.

I recently tried a couple of cases of RL25 in my 300WSM. I remeber reaidng an articel in Handloader where Ross Seyfried got excellent velocities and accuracy with a compressed charge of RL 25, so I tried it out.

Both it and RL 22 gave good velocities with zero pressure signs. Most folks think that the really slow powders wont' work in the short mags, but it can't hurt to try.

I dont' worry about a compressed load unless the bullets start to pop out of the cae, and you can test for that with a jiffy marker!
