My observations and of my buddies using the D powder, is they are all faster than the original canister grade.
No problem, we just worked down our loads , to get back in the accuracy node we were seeking.
Then it shoot great. No difference in accuracy, velocity (adjusted ) and pressure signs once this is done.
The old note to start low and work up is the way to do it with the D powder, since they are bulk and will vary from can to can, if you obtain different lot number.
IMR8208 work great in .223 and D8208 is made to be used as a substitute. Reason of the designation of each, such as D5744, D4064 ect..
D8208 is faster, but work up your load. Do not substitute IMR8208 load data - grains for grains. Start at the min.
Stop when max velocity for a given IMR load is reached, or better when you get the accuracy you seek, usually found below max.
I just wish they were making D Varget..
