I've only used H4831 for my 270 win but that one is sometimes the elusive unicorn. Want to work up a good hunting load with something besides h4831 for when I can't get it. What are a couple good options to try? Any I should stay away from?

I've used varget and imr4064. Both performed well. 4064 is available everywhere.

I used only IMR 4831 for years for my .270's
Loaded 130's & 150's with it.

I tried some Reloder 22 but wasn't really satisfied with the results.
I just tried H-4831 for the first time. Comparable group sizes to my IMR loads and a bit higher velocity

Sierra shows Re22 for their accuracy loads using 130, 140 and 150 grain bullets.
The Nosler Accuracy load for 150 grain bullets is 52.0 Grains of H4350 and I found it to be the best load for accuracy.
The downside shows this to be the slowest of the loads they developed but I loaded past max and still found MOA accuracy.

While far from ideal, I have tried IMR 4320 in 270win. It was a minute of deer load. I didn't spend much time with it though. IMR 7828 might linger on shelves longer being a very slow burning powder not suited to the most popular rounds: I've not tried it yet despite having a pound for such experimentation.

RL 22 is not really supposed to be a 270 powder either, but it works good. I get 3075fps from an A-bolt with a 130 grain bullet. Great hunting accuracy.
