After reading someone's post here, I decided to build my own storage chest for primers and powders.

After reviewing the CSSA website and other threads on the topic, I needed to revisit the way I store my components. I didn't want to spend too much money on this but I also wanted to be legal.

All in all, cost about $25, still need to do some sanding, but should do the trick afterwards. Total build time around 30-45 mins.

I somewhat copied another members design, but I can't find the thread, thanks to whomever made that post though.

Cheers

P.S. I know its out of square a little, that comes with buying the cheapest knotty pine that Lowes has. :)

What sort of wood is that? What are the dimensions? Would plywood work? I have mine in a plywood box but want something bigger.

Its 1" knotty pine, runs about $8.50 for an 8'x12" board. PLywood should work just fine, the minimum regs call for 3/4" thick

I've been storing mine in an old kitchen cupboard above my bench and it is only 1/2" wood. Maybe I could get away with screwing on some 1/4" plywood over the top?

Looks pretty good for a quick job.

Home Depot used to carry some imported mystery wood boards that were laminated and up to 12 or 16" wide and cheap.

+1 it looks like pine or fur or something but it looks nice and its Cheap!:D

i gotta build me a good storage box im thinking ill build a small cabinet that will fit on the wall above my bench....

as for primers....can you have a divider in the cabinet and store them seperatly or do they have to be like in a completly other cabinet?....

Here we go again! Yet another thing I need to take care of.

I was told to leave gunpowder out of any containers so as to avoid any explosive pressure build-up in case of a fire. I guess I'll be looking for a freakin' box of some type for my lousy 2lbs of HP-38. I'll start locking the primers in with the live ammo.

Just says "Stored Seperately" IIRC.

That looks pretty good. My only comment this it may be a bit on the small side.

Looks like if you put two 8 lb keg in there not much else would fit.
