Hello All,
I have been using D700 powder purchased from Canada Ammo several years ago for use in 12 gauge, 9mm and .45ACP. It came in black 5lb jugs and looked exactly like 700X, dark gray with little red flecks (will try and post a picture!) I had no problems or issues with it and used 700X loads after testing. Today, I opened my most recent order of D700 (bought just before Covid) It came in WHITE 5lb jugs and the powder is a khaki colour with no colored flecks in it. Totally different from the previous batch. Labelling appears OK.
Canada Ammos website does not respond so I'm assuming the company is gone?
Has anyone had any dealings with this powder? Is it normal for powders to vary in colour like this?
Cautious!
I apologize in advance for any Forum infractions I have committed.

Canada Ammo powders were cheap specifically because they're not canister grade. They vary lot to lot more than you'd expect from something labeled by IMR etc.

I haven't used their d700, But i would redo load development given the info you've provided.

A khaki color is interesting, all the powder I've used has been some variation of grey/ black, but I don't reload pistol yet. The one pistol powder i have on hand is grey... I hope it's not a sign the powder is going/gone bad? Does it smell different?

And yes, Canada Ammo seems to have closed shop years ago at this point.

Don't think it is going bad. Still smells sweet like 700x ! I had an 8lb keg of 700X retrieved from a basement cleanup. Lasted me 20 years and stayed fresh the whole time! It's just that I have never seen such a radical colour change. I'm just trying to get some pix uploaded.

Chances are you are dealing with 2 different powders, not identical but both similar burn speed to 700x. I wouldn't worry about that too much.

The powder containers should have lot numbers on them. All the powders I got from Canada Ammo had lot numbers. I think I have 3 different lots of D4350.

If the lot number is different then you need to rework your recipes.

If it hasn't gone bad and it's possibly a different powder, could it be Clays? It's fast like 700x and has a "khakish" colour.

Disclaimer: I have zero experience with the D700 or any of the bulk powders from Canada ammo.
