Just wondering if brass plated screws would be fine for a powder storage box, as they are a helluva lot cheaper compared to full brass screws (58 cents for 18 vs 3$ for 6), sounds to me they wouldnt spark unless you really tried..?

if not guess it's to late :|

That is fine if it is real plated brass and not some type of paint finish in a brass color

If you intend to beat the box around (and scratch off the plating to the bare metal) then obviously get proper ones. But anyone beating up a powder box probably deserves the consequences of Darwin.

Not a bloody thing, but the hand wringers insist we treat this stuff like plutonium.

Yeah really...
I buy my powder... Take it home... Put it on the shelf in my reloading area...

Been doing it this way for many years... '#### has not fallen off.

Lot's of powder even at ammo factories is stored in old non working fridges. I imagine if you were to store your powder in a wood locked box that had steel or plated screws/hinges no one would ever kick your door down and charge you for a lack of brass fasteners, and if they did it would likely be the first case ever anywhere. People who have had a visit for other things including firearms never seem to be charged with NRC reloading component storage offences.
