Powders for 30-378

Just recieved a Weatherby Mark V with a fluted stainless barrel in .30-378. Have any of you guys reloaded this caliber and if so, what powders perform best for long range shooting? I can find many recipes for this caliber but I don`t feel like trying a whole bunch of different powders.

In about this order:
US869
H870 if you can find some.
Accurate8700
H1000.
IMR7828/RL25

Depends a bit on bullet weight but the above will serve between about 150 and 200 grs, with H870/US869 outstanding with 165 and 180 gr. bullets.

Despite some of the negatory stuff written, this cartridge really shines if fed right.

H50BMG, 5010, Retumbo, and the VV slow powders work well too. You might also want to look into some of the slow surplus offerings, as you will use a lot of power in this case. - dan

I use 113gr of retumbo under a 180 accubond and a fed 215 LR match primer.
3400fps and shoots 3/4"

Thanks guys. I have H50BMG, H-1000, N170, and H-4831 on hand. That should keep me busy for awhile.

Use a max charge of H-1000 myself pushing a 180 grainer, shoots sub MOA
