Powders for 303 Brit

BL-C(2) is at the top of my list as is CFE223. Both provide absolutely top velocity with 150/180 bullets and great accuracy.

I have made up some 308 loads using CFE223 and it seems to produce pretty high pressures. Not sure that one would be a good choice for 303 case longevity. BL-C2 published pressures are typically lower than other powders yet it produces good velocities. I am seeing single digit SD's which is impressive.

I haven't noticed anything myself. It's listed as slower than BL-C (2) and my loads are also usually very close to identical in a lot of other cartridges I use both in, like .223 and .308. I have agreed with some fairly common speculation that CFE is pretty much BL with some extra spices. I don't really watch case life too close, I am lucky to have tons of brass. I will pay more attention in the future and look for any patterns.

Many many years ago my first reloading set up was a Lee loader for 303. As any of you using those kits its pretty fool proof with the dipper and on of the listed powders. I used 3031 way back then and to be frank it still works well. With newer powders out there these days 3031 seems to be overlooked but I find it very versatile with many different calibers.

Varget, 4895, ans 3031 al, work great in my rifles, in all bullet weights.
In my Ruger I used to use Varget but in the last three years or so have been shooting 4895 in my hunting load using 150 grain Barnes TSX.
accuracy is great and the load kills super right out past 350 yards.

I managed to find a source for the elusive Speer 150gr Hotcore SP bullets at a really good price. I bought 300 but now I'm contemplating buying a couple hundred more. I was gravitating towards the 174gr bullets but most of them are hard to find and considerably more expensive than what I paid for these 150gr bullets.

The 50gr SP can kill anything on the continent and they fly a bit flatter.
