Hey Guys,

I thought I had seen a thread about this but I can't seem to find it.

What's a good powder to use for the .45ACP Norinco 1911?? Also I'm looking for a powder that works well with 185gr, 200gr & 230gr bullet.

Any info greatly appreciated.

There are several good powders for this.
Win231 is fine although is is a little dirty . I have used it for years but recently got some Accurate Arms # 5 which was designed for the 45 & is supposed to be excellent. I should know soon.

There are others, Titegroup etc. What is your reloading setup ?? What type of shooting are you doing ??

Can't go wrong with Bullseye. But look at Titegroup. Another one not talked about is WST it replaced 452AA. Very clean burning

Bullseye works very well. Lots of load data for all your weights listed. My Norc works very well with a 200 swc with 3.8 gr bullseye. And did I mention cheap, 1lb(7000 grains/3.8=lots of shooting).

titegroup +1.

Consistent, not sensitive to pressure. clean.

I switched from 231, uses less powder than 231 also. that's a good powder too...

i don't know about where you get yours, but the titegroup we get comes in a 12 oz can- not 16 or pound- that was enoughto negate the savings over 231 for me- that and we can't get it in bigger amounts like 8 lb canisters

231 is pretty consistant in .45acp. 5.3 gr under my 200gr LSWC makes power factor for IDPA & IPSC.

I found Titegroup scorched the sides of the cases to much to be worth loading in .45acp. I find it better suited for .40cal where pressures run higher.

Take Care
