Powders for 6.5X55?

I have some 130 grain Bergers that I want to load up for my 6.5 Swede, but am looking for some powder recommendations. I also have data from Berger for these bullets, but am wondering if anybody has any experience with said bullets and the powders that Berger provides data for (in the Swede). Powders that Berger shows data for include H4350, H4831, RL22, and RL19. I have H4350 and RL22 on hand...I'm fresh out of H4831 though. Any opinions or experience with these bullets or powders with the Swede would be much appreciated...thanks.

Certainly the H4350 is consistent in my Gustav 6.5x55. I use nothing else.

4350 is probably your best bet out of the powders that you have on hand.

I've used H4831 and H414 with 140 gr. Hornady Interlock's for years with very satisfying results.

This Spring I tried an upper-end load of Varget behind Hornady 129 gr Interlocks and found it to be an easy-shooting, accurate combination.

...aaaahhh, excellent! H4350 is what I was leaning towards...While I realize that things may differ in my own rifle, it's good to know that it works elswhere.

H414 worked very well for me. I've read that Reloader 19 and 22 are excellent choices as well.

Pretty hard to go wrong with the 6.5x55. As long as your rifle is accurate in the first place, any decent powder, from IMR 3031, H414 (especially that great H414 slo lot 10 that Tom Higginson used to sell) W760, H4831 and a myriad of others, all will work well. I've even used H1000 (WC867) with 160 grain bullets. Not a real screamer, but laser accurate and the moose didn't notice that it wasn't going 150 fps slower than normal. The M96/38 mauser still loves that load with the old 160 grain cupro nickel jacketed bullets that International Firearms dumped on the market in the late 70's. They also included a powder that they bought from "Higginson's" called #44. It was the equivalent of IMR 3031.
Pick a powder that will fill the case to the bottom of the bullet when seated to depth and it will likely shoot decent consistent groups and be fine for hunting.

I use nothing but Rl-22 unless Im shooting 85gr. Im sure you will be fine with what you have on hand.
