I am running 3.8 grains of titegroup in my loads for a Beretta 96 in 40 S&W with a 180 grain Frontier bullet and getting a power factor of 138 for productiion division. A member of our club suggested going to a 160 grain bullet for the same powder load, I was just wondering if anyone has gone down to the the lighter bullet weight and how much it affected the power factor. I will be loading some 160 and chronying them on monday. In the meantime input would be appreciated.:)

So your velocity averages at 767fps. I load about 3.6 -3.7 titegroup and 180s for about the same velocity and power factor. It is a good load and works the action of my XD very well. I don't think I've had a feeding or extraction / ejection failure yet with this load.

Just a questions, why drop down to 160s? I would think slow and heavy would be the way to go for recoil management.
 
I find the lighter 160 grain bullets recoil a little less than 180 with loads that barrely cycle my sig. Most starting loads will not cycle my sig though, this thing is build to take full house loads.
 
You should be good to go for the production minimum PF of 125. You have to remember the pressure will be slightly higher on your loads during summer time.
