For us maritimers going to the nats we have heard of power factor going up and going down. So what do we need to do. I load with 700X and others going up with me load with win231. Do we need to bump up our powder or bump down our powder? I will post this as well in the reloading fourm. Basicly what power factor would you load hear in NB for the nats?

Thanks guys

Moe

Well, my PF went down when I came over to Halifax last year, so using that (single) data point, you shouldn't need to power up coming this direction...

I just shot in the Ont provincials a while back having flown up from Halifax and there was no drastic difference. If you have a reasonable margin above, you should be fine.

:D

231 over montana 180s

Moe:
At the Provincials in 2002, at least 6 shooters who were shooting Standard,
using 180 gr Montana Gold, didn't make Major.
Winchester Ball Powders are temperature sensitive.Velocities are up and down.
You should check the Winchester Website re # 231.
Maximum load for a 180 is 5.0 gr., PSI 32,900 which is quite high.
Powder factor is 170.
#231 is fine if your shooting 40 S&W,180's in Production.
The load can be reduced from 5.0 down to the starting load of 4.1.
You should consider using WSF if you use Winchester Ball Powders.
