PPC in Edmonton

seeing as I can't shoot PPC with a 1911 (pity, that is):dancingbanana:

I don't know about 1911s and PPC but you sure can shoot your 1911 in IPSC! Come check out the IPSC match at Phoenix Indoor Range on November 12th.....;)

You can use it for PPC, as far as a club in Edmonton that shoots it I'm not aware of one. I shoot PPC in Red Deer as well as duty pistol. The only 2 clubs that are members of the ACPA which shoots PPC and Duty etc. are Red Deer and Lethbridge, that I'm aware of, unfortunatley I wasn't around all that much this last summer.

Try to get ahold of John Vaughn who is the Prez of the Spruce Grove Gun Club. He may be able to put you in touch with any groups that still do PPC in the Edmonton area.

And as far as I remember semi autos are OK for PPC, just some rules that you need to follow.

I was reading the PPC Canada webiste where it plainly states S/A semis are a no no, putting the 1911 out of contention.

I'd shoot IPSC, but you guys are a bunch of weenies. (Flame away! I've got nomex coveralls!) :p :p :p

Your loss:rolleyes: It's been my experience that those individuals who poo-poo IPSC have 'performance anxiety' and their ego can't get past it....:D

Thats Mr. Weenie to you Griz ;-P

I remember shooting PPC courses of fire in the mid 90's and semis were ok. Hell with nearly every police force having semis these days they had better move forward with the times or PPC will die off totally some day.

If you really need a revolver try to get into Cowboy Action Shooting :)

That list you read applies only to a very specific course of
fire: CPCA 1500 Duty Pistol match. There are a whole bunch
of equipment restrictions for this match: > 2 level retention
holster, factory fixed sights, pistol must be on that approved
"Duty Pistol" list.

CPCA Rule book
Page 24-25 lists the "Duty Pistol" Course of Fire.
Page 62 lists the current approved pistols which can be used for the "Duty Pistol" match.
Section 21 - page 49-50 are the "Duty Pistol" specific rules.

For traditional 1500 PPC, rule 3.3 applies -> your S/A 1911
is good to go provided it meets the safe trigger pull weight,
barrel length, sight radius. Match flyers will tell you what
firearms are required. Typically, the 1500 PPC Classifier
match will state : firearm must conform to rules 3.2 or 3.3

If the pistol also meets 3.4, then you can also use it to fire
"Distinguish Pistol" matches.
