Would like to hear from some people what you are using for ppc loads. Interested mainly in this area of handgun reloading. Need to know , powder, amount, type and weight of bullet. Thanks

Stating which caliber you use would be great help for your answers. Even if much of the shooters use a .38 special revolver does not mean that is what you have...

I shoot the following:
3.8 grains of clays with a 200 grains semiwadcutter lead bullet in .45ACP.
This load is widely known to be accurate at 50meters by bullseye shooters and does perfect for me. It is light and does not make major for IPSC :(

Most guys are using some variation of the standard loads with WW 231 or Bullseye; I use WW 231. BDX bullets from Kurt Thomas in... Black Diamond now, I think... are usually the bullet of choice.

No specific load meantioned, because most serious PPC guys put their gun in a Ransom rest and test grouping, going up and down a tenth of a grain at a time. That's how I arrived at the loads for my PPC and Distinguished revolvers - and each of the three takes a different load for optimum results (although any one of them will use a load intended for one of the others and still shoot better than I can hold).

PM Kolt if you want to hear the latest and greatest in PPC loads out there.

.38 special brass
3.2 gr. 231 Win. powder
Fed Primers
Canadian BDX 148gr. Hollow Base Wadcutter bullits
from my custom PPC Revolver

.38 special brass
3.7 gr. 231 Win. powder
Fed primers
Canadian BDX 158 gr. SWC
works good in my S&W 686

.38 special brass
2.8 gr. 231
fed primers
Can. Bdx 148gr. HBWC
work good in my Mod. 19 Snub

I agree that finding the right load for your own gun is also worth while, but these loads work well in my guns.

for Individual PPC: 38 Special
148gr HBWC (swaged)/2.9gr Bullseye

For Distinguished Revolver: 38 Special
158gr SWC (swaged)/2.7gr Bullseye

For Distinguished Semi-Auto/Individual Duty: 45 ACP
200gr LSWC (swaged)/4.3gr Bullseye

I use these loads and I think they are pretty common/been around awhile. They are more than enough accurate.

Its true each gun will react differently to different loads and you might want to find out what is best in your gun.

Some guys swear by Win 231, others by Bullseye. The guys that started me in PPC shoot bullseye...so I started using it too. Accurracy is plenty good.

For .38 spl individual I use 3.2 grains of W231 with federal 100 primers and 148 gr HBWC.

For Duty I use 3.7 grains of W231 with a CCI 500 primer and a 125 gr conical cast lead bullet - gives a consistant 720 fps from my 4.23" S&W 5946.

Haven't chrono'd the revolver load, but the accuracy is pretty good with my custom.
