I'm new to the sport, have a S&W 14-2, 38 spl. but speedloaders won't fit past the grips. Any suggestions, ie Pachmyer Grippers, etc ?
Thanks

I have a pair of Pachmyer Decelerator grips for my 686. They have been trimmed/sanded down to allow more clearance for speed loaders. Hogue Overmolds fit without any modification. Personally though, I hate the finger grooves on the Hogue.

I too have a Model 14 S & W, but it has been modified to use full moon clips. Beats speedloaders three ways to Sunday!

That is true, however:

- the cylinder must be irreversibly modified by a gunsmith; and
- the full moon clips are fussy on what brass they'll accept.

Probably something to consider after you're sure you like the sport.

The 'irreversible' modification doesn't prevent single loading or speedloaders, indeed it makes the gun far more versatile.

As for the moon clips being fussy this is very true! I stocked up (1000 pcs) of the brand it likes. No problem. FAR faster than speedloaders AND your ejected brass is in convenient clusters of six instead of being dumped all over the ground. Works like a charm.
