PPK Auction over 3k?

Pretty sure the C1 rifles regularly sell for over $3K these days. In deactivated form, they also go for that kind of money. That is only for the Cdn C1....other FALs do not fetch that kind of money with the exception of maybe the EX1 and EX2 trials rifles.

The OPP C1A1 guns were mostly mint
I have a consecutive numbered pair of them in mint condition
Butt plates were replaced by someone at the importer before I got them for some reason

Did anyone else see the SS stamped Thompson?Laugh2

Yup, I spoke with the consignor prior and apparently this is a case of an air drop missing its target and getting into the Germans' hands in Yugoslavia.

It's CA so I decided to pass, I like my guns not castrated :p

If that is true that it would be very cool, but the markings seem off to me. I don't believe the SS used stamps like that on their firearms, and I don't believe it would have Wehrmacht acceptance stamps as well as SS stamps since the SS weren't apart of the Wehrmacht and other firearms issued to them such as K98ks and Walthers lacked the WaA stamp. And the WaA241 being a 1935 era stamp, if it is it would have been out of use for 8 or 9 years after this Thompson would have been dropped in. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable in WW2 era German markings as well as thompsons can chime in! Did the consignor have any supporting paperwork with it?

If the story is true it would be a shame that it was converted to semi!

There was a batch of assorted firearms that came out of Yugoslavia with German markings. I suspect that Thompson was one of them. There were also M44 carbines.
I suspect it was a case of the guns and stamps being in the same place at the same time, and a hammer was handy.

The markings are undoubtedly and unquestionably fake.

Did the Germans capture Thompson's? Yes. Many. The German destination for a captured US Thompson was Maschinenpistole 760(a) (with some variations depending on exact model).

However - few would have been marked, none in the manner on that auction example. I suppose a few could have gone through a depot for repair / rebuild. In such a case, they would have had a ("Heereszeugämter" HZa) depot marking, in a very specific location.

Shame someone dicked with an otherwise very attractive Thompson.

Elwood Epps also does the 30 Reid conversions on 32 ACP pistol’s. Not sure what they charge but it won’t be as much as the guy on the auction payed.

The only thing I could see on the PPK that was out of the ordinary, other than what was stated, was a small mark on the right side of the trigger guard that looked "similar" but was not...the Czech rework mark of post WW 2
The Waffenampt "T gun" was probably one of the ones that came in to Canada about 30 years ago, so marked, to a Canadian dealer.
There were also some No.4 Lee Enfields and also some Bren guns in the batch marked the same way
There are just too many stamps on the subject "T gun" to be kosher, in my opinion, but then what the *ell do I know :)##

There is a PPK on the Switzers auction with bids now up to $3200.

Can someone explain this to me? I bought a surplus PPK years ago for a few hundred bucks.

Is this the actual one that Hitler uses to off himself? (joking). Why would it be worth THAT much?

I am just curious what the markings mean that make this one so valuable!

It only had one previous owner, James Bond.

How about the deactivated Sten mk2? It was in kind of poor condition from what I could see.
Hammer price $1700
Buyers fee: $255
Taxes: Another 250 or more
Postage: maybe $40.

Incredible.Good for the seller, and the auction house. But the bidding means there were two guys willing to go into this price range for a deact.

I ended up getting some milsurp ammo that I reload and could use some brass for. I paid top dollar but since it's impossible to find I guess I did ok. But except for rare stuff like this, and spare parts you can't find anywhere else, I see no point in these auctions for buyers. Even one like myself that will pay to play.
But there is paying to play, and spending like a drunken sailor. With a bit of patience you could find this stuff on the EE here or #######s for a lot cheaper.

The James bond PPK got $3200. The same guy bought a PP for $3100. Why can't I know people like this? I have no luck. Just think of the rare Russian surplus SKS I could sell him with "matching oil bottle" for the cheap price of $1000!

Funny enough, I was one of the bidders. I went all the way until $3000 for both and had to tap out at some point. I was willing to pay to score one of them. Now I'm looking for a PP or PPK chambered in 380acp that I can get converted by dlask. I need one. It's my dream gun and I must have it.

As much as I'm loath to recommend them (they are a pain in the rear to deal with) talk to Ellwood Epps about converting a 32acp to 30reid. Might end up cheaper.

Also don't fight for a pre-war ppk - go for a post war, it's not 12.7 eligible so you can get a lower price for a gun you intend to convert to restricted.
