Hi Guys,

I have the chance to buy a deactivated ppsh-41 but I first want to determine what the markings are first. Can anyone help. Having trouble posting pics. SO here is a description of them.

1944
Underneath the year is the cyrillic symbol for "EI" (which looks like an n) and to its right the Cyrillic symbol for "Ye" which looks exactly like the letter E

Underneath this is a square with a diagonal line through it running from top right to bottom left

Underneath this is 4303 wuth the first 3 being bigger that the other numbers.

Underneath this there is a rough stamped 4 and the cyrillac symbol for "pe" which looks like an " n ".

For your reference I have added a webiste that explains the cyrillic letters I refer to above:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyrillic_alphabet

Please replay to my post of pm with any answers. Cheers Jason

Odd that you have no description of a factory marking. In 1944, of course, only Russia was manufacturing the PPSh. Doesn't seem to follow normal Russian serial # practice, though. The box with diagonal is a common Russian refurbishment symbol and can be found on all types of Russian military arms.

Thanks guys for your help. I will contact the website aurthor once I get the pics posted. I am 99% sure it is russian with the cyrilliac lettering, 1944 date and russian refurbishment code. Cheers
