I went to the local sports shop to get some ammo for my new toy and they only had 117gr Federal Blue Box ammo and some of this new stuff? Never heard of it before.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with it?

Aka PRVI. Serbian made - regarded similarly to surplus eastern bloc ammo in my experience. I've shot it in .223 and the groups weren't spectacular, but it was cheap so...

i have tried ammo in my 223, 22-250, 6.5x55, 308 and the largest group is 1.5 inches at 100yds, that was with the 22-250

PPU are known to have very rare ammunition. I have heard fairly good things from them for the price. I would consider them better than surplus, thats for sure.

Some calibers use powder which are very temperature sensitive, but in general, they are good. Their hunting bullets are nothing fancy, just the old SP technology, but they are reliable under most circumstances.

Thanks for the replies.

Just going to be using it for sighting in and hopefully a coyote or two, until I get some some handloads worked up.

Just got the dies, brass, (110 Accubond) and Powder (RL19) today, now to find some time to get them loaded and shoot them.

It was made by some 12 year old that was so concintrated in makeing good ammo,

so as to not loose his job so his little sisters would not go without eating.

Or ?

Here in yUK we think a lot of their brass - it is sold to WOLF as well. Their 7.5x55 Swiss schtuff is around 250fps slower than GP11, but their .303Brit with the 174gr FMJ is supposed to be pretty good.

Not true, the Prvi Partizan factory is right up-to-date. Look at the website and see for yourself.

Their ammunition was always thought to be pretty good when they were using it for sniping at civilians in Sarajevo, I seem to recall.

I agree with Tac; PPU factory is far from being a third world plant. Maybe be not as 'modern' as others over the world which may be more automized, but certainly up to the task of making good ammo. Serbia is not Khyber Pass.

It's good brass, the bullets I believe are just cup and core but I haven't recovered one from game yet to see how they act.

I know the brass is good because I reload with it quite a bit, I'd rate it up there with Winchester.

Word is it's very good brass for reloading.

I bought a bunch... sorry guys, but a bunch is 200 rounds for me, in .303Brit FMJ to use for reloading.

Just banged them off at the range for fun and then will reload for the serious work.

EDIT: Brordo and Rocket Surgery beat me too it... =(

I have a quantity of the PPU headstamped brass in 7x57.
It is very good brass indeed, and I am a bit fussy about brass.
I weighed out some, and quit after about 25 cases, since the weight was quite consistent.
I have some 8x57 196 grain ammo that someone gave to me, and I ran a few rounds
across the chrony to see what it was like.
No North American load, this!! It graphed 2596 avg for 5 rounds. Definitely Eurospec!
I think for the most part, it is pretty decent stuff.
Eagleye.
