Hi, I am new to hunting and I am curious if it is OK to practice shooting on crown land. Can I discharge a firearm for a purpose other than hunting (I mean practice).
Using the MNR interactive maps, I found a huge portion of crown land off highway 118 between highway 11 and 35, east of Lake Muskoka.
I am just curious if it is OK to park the car by the side of the highway and wander into the forest to hunt and practice shoot.

Thanks.

There might be signs stating what is allowed. I have some crown land by me that have signs saying no camping and no target practice.....hunting is allowed. I can't figure why no target practice besides maybe noise

I don't think it is a good idea to just walk in from a highway. If someone stops on the road and hears shooting nearby, you are guaranteed a visit, that may not be too friendly.
Find some old trail that takes you considerable distance from any main road or residences.

last time I shot on crown land some one called the cops and we only had pellet guns 0o
