Prandelli gasperini shotguns?

Recently picked up a Pirandello gasperini o/u

Marked “Hubertus” (patron saint of hunting)

Made in Italy, date code puts it in the early 80’s

Nice wood, nice engraving, nice finish, solid feel, points extremely well.

Anyone have info on this brand? Never heard of it, can’t find much online about them either. Hoping someone will have some info laying around in a book about them.

Did you get the one at EPPS? I came across that one while researching MY recent acquisition of an F.Pedretti over under. I think we each have the same gun under a different name. I think the small gun makers in Gardone buy the same receivers and barrels, stocks etc. as blanks and then do their own little touches like engraving and checkering and assemble them with their own name on it. Here's the lock on my Pedretti is it similar to your Prandelli? After more research it looks like Marocchi uses the same lock mechanism also. I love the little errors in the hand engraving too.

These are Italian guild guns. Actions and barrels assemblies were purchased and finished by the maker. Many will appear very similar as these gunmakers purchased from the same suppliers. I’ve had quite a few different makes. All looked to be built off the same action as the Pedretti shown above. Same barrels as well.

Some of these guns can be quite nice. The internals will give an indication of quality. I’ve had some that were pretty crude and others that in which internals looked like they were made by jeweller. Clean, polished, CCH and highly aesthetic. It was obvious that the maker spent a lot of time perfecting each and every component. And the effort showed. The guns worked liked a swiss watch and had some of the smoothest, crispest triggers I’ve had on a shotgun.

On the surface, once can get a good handle of what to expect on the inside but looking at the quality of the finishes on the outside. High quality engraving, quality of bluing and even quality and fit of the wood. A lot can be said for small things like machine marks on barrels, poor checkering or poor quality fit of metal furniture such as forearm releases, toe/heal plates etc
