I have a pre-64 Mod 70 Varmint .243 with the 26” stainless steel heavy barrel made in 1961. The rifle is in original condition and is in very good condition – estimate 85%+. I don’t think the round count is very high because the bluing on the bolt and receiver is still in excellent condition. I’m thinking about selling it but I have absolutely no idea what this rifle is worth. I’ve searched the internet for approx. value but the range is huge, $1400 – $3000 USD (seems a little pricey - obviously the high end is for a rifle in mint condition). If I do decide to sell what would be a fair and reasonable asking price? It would be very much appreciated to hear back from Mod 70 collectors regarding the value of this rifle. Thank-you.

Thanks for the info. That seems to be more reasonable. Understandably the varmint is a "beast" and not as practical as a sporter but I wonder why the American pricing would be that high. Is it because the demand is greater or ???
Cheers

I sold my Pre-64 .264 mag for $1400 with a set of dies and hard case 4 years ago. It was cared for, but not babied. I think your .243 would rate higher IMHO.
